Welcome to your first edition of Rider News – your update on useful tips and advice on training, fundraising and important logistical details in the lead up to the Ride.
Our thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by this unprecedented event. The outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is raising a lot of questions about safety and travel.
We hope to avoid cancelling the ride and we will be working closely with our logistics partner Discover Adventure and monitoring guidance from the government in the lead up to the event but for now we are planning to go ahead.
We want to reassure you that we will only continue with the ride as long as it is safe to do so – safety of participants and our staff will always come first.
On behalf of myeloma patients and their families, THANK YOU again for taking part in our London Paris Ride and helping to make myeloma history!
DISCOVER ADVENTURE – our logistics partner for the ride will be in touch with you via email, asking you to login to their event portal to upload important trip information like your passport details, dietary requirements, next of kin contact and insurance.
YOUR WELCOME PACK – If you haven’t already, have a look at YOUR WELCOME PACK. It’s full of fundraising ideas, advice on how to share your story and raise awareness of myeloma as well as helpful tips on training and nutrition to get you started.
YOUR TRAINING PLAN – For all of you keen to start training, here is YOUR RIDE TRAINING PLAN, it’s a detailed 15 week plan to get you ride ready! Training in advance is crucial to ensure you can complete this challenge – but also enjoy doing it. If you stick with this plan you’ll be more than fit enough to ride to Paris!
FUNDRAISING – Kick start your fundraising by setting up your own JustGiving page, then click on ‘Start Fundraising.’ Once you’ve created your page, be sure to add your photo and share your story about why you’re cycling from London to Paris for Myeloma UK, and share your page with your family, friends and colleagues.
RIDE COMMUNITY – We have an active group of current and former Ride participants on our Closed Facebook Group. It’s a great place to meet other riders, ask questions, share ideas and arrange training sessions in your area, so join the group and introduce yourself!
If you have any questions contact our Ride Team on 0131 557 3332 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, our staff are currently working from home and may take a little longer to reply.
In these challenging times, we understand that training and fundraising will not be your top priority – but they may be a welcome distraction. Thank you again for taking on this challenge and supporting the work of Myeloma UK.
